Maybe it is just a Midwest thing? Oddly enough we never had paczki growing up (probably because we're not Polish!) but I think it might have to become a Barber family tradition, especially now that we live in super-Polish Chicago.Tesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07797493386545660391noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-989033992988999073.post-25142293279044776532014-03-07T21:31:37.814-06:002014-03-07T21:31:37.814-06:00I'm generally pretty terrible at sticking with...I'm generally pretty terrible at sticking with my Lenten commitments but we'll see how this year goes. Also I recently moved to the East Coast and could not find a paczki anywhere (not even the little polish store). I'm almost starting to wonder if that's a tradition more often observed in the Midwest? I could always find paczki in Michigan.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-989033992988999073.post-85788738656186053032014-03-04T14:55:58.299-06:002014-03-04T14:55:58.299-06:00Those are some really good ideas! The sleeping on the floor one sounds especially intense, and I bet this year it will take a lot of discipline to get up early and prepare your smoothie. I have hypoglycemia so I can't just not eat breakfast, so I'm drinking green smoothies every day for breakfast instead, so I should still get the nutritional value. But I'm used to having like, eggs and bacon for breakfast everyday. :p Last year for Lent, I gave up my bed and slept on the floor! That was my first successful Lent ever!Rosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01068892260681772839noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-989033992988999073.post-10181299966147963932014-03-04T10:06:25.761-06:002014-03-04T10:06:25.761-06:00Ha ha, so true what Frank said! (although they did it as a New Year's Resolution, not a Lenten resolution) I don't know HOW they did it, but they managed to stick with it all year. The only times they caved was for a car part when their car needed it and for a cell phone (Viktorija did extensive research on the cell phone to make sure it wasn't made in China, but then after it got there she found out that one part of it had been made "outside of the U.S."walking dot photographyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07765284585126483305noreply@blogger.com
