Verily the most thrilling moment!

Do you read Verily? I have to admit, I'm kind of addicted to their darling blog, and some of you know I freelance as a journalist on the side. So a few months back, when the wedding-planning angst was starting to get to me, I thought maybe I could channel the frustration into a freelance post for them.

It turns out I had a lot more to say than I ever realized about the insanity of today's wedding industry! Before long, I'd poured out over a whole essay on the subject. I had a few friends look it over and then I sent my piece off to Verily, fingers crossed, hoping they'd give it at least a glance.

What happened next was more exciting than I ever could have dreamed. Not only did they want to publish it, but they asked if they could put my piece in the print magazine! After I did the most ecstatic happy dance ever, I wrote back with a resounding "YES!"

I didn't think my little writer's heart could be any more thrilled than I was at that moment. But then came the day I saw this:

Thank you to my dear friend Anna for the photo!

And my only response was "AHHHHHH!" Because if there's one thing more amazing than seeing your byline in print, it's seeing your byline in Verily magazine—the best and most beautiful magazine I've ever encountered.

I couldn't be more honored to be a part of Verily and the wonderful work it's doing. And if you haven't ordered a subscription yet, come on now! What are you waiting for? ;)

p.s. Many thanks to Christina for publishing a short interview I did with her a while back, and for giving me the nicest and sweetest intro ever. It's wonderful to reconnect with her after being in the same dorm—I love how blogging brings people together!

p.p.s. A few favorite links about Verily ... an interview with one of its beautiful founders here and article about how it came to be here. Enjoy!

  9. Congratulations! That's really exciting! The sentence in bold in the middle is really food for thought. It is really sad how the industry has twisted the much bigger purpose of the wedding day.
