Our baby is here!

I'm so happy to announce that our little boy was born this morning!

His name is Francisco Anthony but we're calling him Frankie for short.

He was born by c-section this morning at 6:39 am. He weighed 8 lbs. 7 oz, and the nurse said he has some of the biggest newborn feet she's ever seen!

Frank and I are completely over the moon about him! Meeting him and seeing his little face has been even more wonderful than I dreamed. The birth was pretty rough, and ended up going pretty much the exact opposite of what I wanted and planned, but he's here and he's healthy and that's all that matters.

Day One of being parents has been a smashing success. Frank changed all the diapers. He got peed on the first time which cracked me up. And Frankie seems to be taking to nursing like a champ.

We are loving getting to know this little boy. It's incredible to think that he is finally here—our our very own son.

  1. Congratulations!!!! He is beautiful. I'm so glad nursing is going well so far. I thought the first feeding with Maggie when I had to be flat on my back and they were constantly monitoring my blood pressure, was super awkward.

I'm so sorry that you ended up with a c-section. You are so right that the only thing that matters is a healthy baby boy, but c-sections still suck and I think it's okay to feel bummed about it. If you ever want to talk, I'm here!

  2. Congratulations! There is nothing better than a new baby in your life- getting to know them is the best part! And being an aunt is even better, as I don't have to do any of the hard work. ;)

  9. Congratulations on meeting your little guy! I too had a really long, rough labor that ended in a very unexpected c-section with my first, so please know you're not alone (I know it can feel that way in our little Catholic bubble) and childbirth is a miracle and a blessing no matter how it happens. God Bless you and your sweet family!

  10. Congratulations! Childbirth is one of those things where we have to offer it up and accept that it is in His control. As a mom who has had 4 C-sections - (1 emergency, 3 hard breech babies) - I will offer two words of advice - take the pain meds and bring a pillow to put on your tummy for car rides for a few weeks. Pot holes are murder on the incision site! God Bless - and remember to let folks take care of you!

  13. Tess, Frankie is beautiful!! And remember -- you actually DID have the birth you wanted because you know what? You have a healthy boy and you are both safely on the other side of delivery. THAT is what counts! Prayers for you all as you experience the first few days of being a family!

    1. And I hope that sounded encouraging and not like I was dismissing the difficulty of the delivery!!

  21. YAYYYYY! He is so adorable. I'm so, so happy for all y'all and thankful for a safe delivery. Can't wait for more baby blogging.

P.S. What the heck is on your forehead? The nurse in me keeps trying to figure it out. Oxygen saturation?

  31. Congratulations! I gave birth to my first two weeks ago, also a planned natural birth that ultimately was a c-section. And I agree, healthy babies are more important than birth plans, Enjoy your little guys, prayers for all three of you.

  32. Congratulations!! I blame my bloglovin app for it taking me so long to get over here and wish you well. I'm so happy for you. Frankie is absolutely precious and your photos are just heart-stoppingly wonderful. I'm in love with Frankie's perfect stork-bite. My Jake had one too and now it only shows up when he gets mad, and I think, oh there's my baby again! I'm SO GLAD to hear that nursing is going well!!
