"She remembered that once, when she was a little girl, she had seen a pretty young woman with golden hair down to her knees in a long flowered dress, and she had said to her, without thinking, 'Are you a princess?' The girl had laughed very kindly at her and asked her what her name was. Blanche remembered going away from her, led by her mother's hand, thinking to herself that the girl really was a princess, but in disguise. And she had resolved that, someday, she would dress as though she were a princess in disguise." - from The Shadow of the Bear by Regina Doman, and copied from this blog
I never thought of it before but what a lovely ideal to aspire to in fashion. What would a princess in disguise dress like, do you think? From now on I'm going to try to keep that image in the back of my mind when shopping and picking out outfits.
P.S. I just did a little google research on Regina Doman and found this endearing novella her husband wrote about how they met. Girls, you will LOVE it. Use it to procrastinate on studying or packing. Guys... not gonna lie, if you click that link, I'll be impressed.
Only 2 papers to go and then I'm home free!

ReplyDeleteAnd Anonymous, I don't think happy endings are a fairy tale but a reality for many people.
happy endings are for stories that haven't finished yet
