WIWS: Mothers Edition!

This week for What I Wore Sunday (back after a long hiatus), I'm featuring two lovely mothers: my mom and grandma (dad's mom) in the outfits they wore for Sunday Mass.

Grandma and Grandpa were in town this weekend for my little sister Cathy's graduation from college.

It's always a treat when we get to see them.

I absolutely love Grandma Elsa's style. She came out wearing this on Sunday and I was like, "Grandma! Where did you get that skirt???" I want one!

I know I've written about this before, but I look up to my Grandma Elsa so much. Life's thrown her some real curveballs—from having to leave her home country of Cuba at age 23, to finding out that her husband has Alzheimer's in her seventies. Through it all, the lady has never lost her sense of fun and feisty spirit.

One of her best traits is how she always wants to learn something new. She went back to college in her forties, after raising 6 children, and had a successful career in engineering after earning her Bachelor's and Master's degrees (and becoming salutatorian of her college class!). And just last night, she was doing my Jillian Michaels workout DVD with me, and laughing til she fell over when she couldn't keep up with the jumping jacks. She always has the greatest attitude; I love that about her.

As for my mom... well, I've written before about what an inspiration she is to me.

Want to know something hilarious? With all this wedding planning stuff, Mum's been going to a lot of different vendors. And sometimes, they think she is the bride. I would too; I mean, the lady does NOT look like she has two daughters getting married this summer. And she also has the best style... one of the best parts of living at home is raiding her closet. In fact I'm wearing her scarf right now (thanks Mum!)

I could write pages more, but Frank is waiting for me to finish so he can have his computer back (the problems of living in multiple places), so I'll leave it at that. Happy belated Mother's Day to all!

And many thanks to Fine Linen and Purple for hosting the fun!

  1. What beautiful and stylish women! I can see how your vendors would think your mom is the bride--she's so youthful!
