One of Those Weeks

It's been one of those weeks that can only happen in college (I hope). Staying up way too late (or not sleeping at all) two nights in a row. Trying to cram a semester's worth of work on my senior thesis into one week (deadline Dec. 6!). Procrastinating like a champion by reading this blog, this blog, this blog, and this blog; googling this absurd idea; and accidentally finding unbelievably freaky things on Wikipedia (to my college readers and especially Vanessa, I apologize for the procrastination that these links will surely bring you). Coercing Sam to play and sing this song for me on the guitar (start the video at 1:12). Taking a LaFortune study break to eat hot dogs, gummy worms and chocolate-covered pretzels with Sam and Lillian... at 2 in the morning. Don't ya love college?

It's tough to stay positive with so much stress and exhaustion, so this morning as I fought to stay awake in History class, I made a list of things I'm grateful for...
Coffee (with extra cream and Splenda)
Laptops
My hair (it was a good hair day)
How absurd college is
Divine revelation and the power of the human intellect (I'd been reading Augustine)
Sparkly snow (we have some now!)
Quarter dogs
Sweatpants and
Burt's Bees lip balm.

Hooray! Now wish me luck as I power through the last fifteen (twenty?) pages of this benighted thesis.

P.S. You remember a while back when I found dates for all my friends to the Badin dance? Well as it turns out, one of the couples kept hanging out after the dance... and they're going on their first date this weekend. Matchmaker, what what?

P.P.S. Blogging is my other favorite procrastination tool. Can ya tell? ;)

  1. I was already doing enough procrastination by just checking your blog! Thank you so much (sarcasm)... I can just imagine you linking those other blogs with an impish grin on your face. :p I laughed so hard when I saw your "absurd idea."

So just because I know you care I'm going to tell you what I'm putting off at the moment: Sem II & Poetry Paper. Simply put, it is going to be a late night!

And now I just feel like sharing my thoughts for the weekend with you. Tomorrow (or better put tonight) I'm considering going to the PLS dance, if Rebecca doesn't disappoint me and say she will go. On Saturday I'm considering having a movie night, for a little pre-birthday celebration. If I do end up hosting a laid back night, want to come? Any movie suggestions (I'm not one who can typically re-watch movies over and over again)? And I guess Sunday will be a good day to catch up on work.

So... I guess I should get back to work. Good luck with yours! Go Tess!

Oh, and here are a couple of my own. You are so welcome!

BAM! You have been hit with procrastination dust. Enjoy.

    Love,

  3. Vanessa... oh my gosh... I love you. You know that I'm going to have to check out every single one of those blogs. I just read "Dear Girls above me" and I'm cracking up so hard... at work! I blame you haha.

Please come to the PLS dance, and bring Rebecca! It's going to be awesome. And of course I would love to hang out Saturday night! The only thing is I still have about 20 pages of my thesis to write by Monday, so I might have to barricade myself in my room and be a hermit. If I manage to work ahead, though, count me in, and even if I can't come, you know I want to. :) Thanks for the adorable comment and hopefully see you soon!
