Door County, WI

Also known as, best weekend ever.

Also known as, the weekend I discovered my new favorite hobby: wine tastings.

My dad rented a cabin for the family in Door County over Labor Day weekend. I'll let the pictures do the talking (get ready for a photo dump!).

Frank, who misses the ocean like crazy, was in heaven.

I borrowed Lillian's Ergo for one of the hikes. I liked it, but it wasn't as comfortable as the Moby. I think the ideal baby carrier would be as comfortable as the Moby, but involve no wrapping (I haaaaate having to wrap the Moby outside as it always drags on the ground—even worse if the ground is dirty or wet...). Maybe a k'tan?

Lillian's in-laws joined us for the weekend. They are great, salt of the earth, Midwestern farmers. It was good to have them there.  (Also, I borrowed Frank's hoodie for that truly glamorous hoodie-over-Ergobaby look)

My dad got this photo of me being the consummate first-time mom:

I got made fun of plenty for that.

Here's my version of the shot:

All dressed up for church on Sunday (Frankie was extra jolly):

My dad took this photo and commented, "I should throw away my camera. I will never get a better picture than that."

Sunday afternoon we went to the marina:

Dad called this the "space shuttle launch" photo:

Later we went out on a pontoon boat for a sunset ride:

Once again I wrapped Frankie in every hoodie and blanket available (it was chilly!):

Also, how cute is my little nephew??

Also that day we went to a cider distillery for a cider tasting—AMAZING.

Then the next day we went to several wineries that had free wine tastings. It was awesome.

When I told my mom I would be blogging about Door County, she said, "No, don't!!! Then everyone will want to come vacation here!" which cracked me up because what reach does she think my blog has exactly?? So guys, don't vacation in Door County.

(But totally do. Because it's AWESOME.)

    1. Ha, a lot of people have that problem. Just yesterday I found out that one of my friends thought we were in a class together in college, but it was actually Lillian.

  7. Love the family pics! Everyone looks so happy! As for missing the ocean, I'm right there with Frank, but different ocean :P and Frankie's expression in the lifejacket is hilarious.

  8. Oh my, oh my, your forays into my Wisconsin are making me homesick! I miss those bluffs, that New Glarus beer, and Midwesterners in general.

Looks like you had a wonderful weekend -- and when the babies are a bit older you should definitely take them up to The Farm, we always loved the kittens and lambs so much.

  10. What a beautiful place!
I have a k'tan, and I love it! It is very comfortable to wear, and so much easier to put on than the moby(........I have one of those too.......and several slings.....and carriers, which my husband prefers......baby wearing is definitely our thing! :) I would highly reccomend it! God bless!

    1. haha, you sound like me! I already have three baby carriers (a sling, a Bjorn and a Moby) so I feel really silly getting another one, but the k'tan just seems like the perfect combination of the best features of all of them. Hopefully I can get my hands on one! Thanks for the recommendation!
